Clara Irwin is a clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. She is in private practice in the South Charlotte area.

Clara graduated from the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1991 and received a Masters in Social Work. In 1985, she received a Masters in Human Development and Learning from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
She is a qualified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher having trained at the Center for Mindfulness at UMass Medical School and at the Mindfulness Center at Brown University. She is a qualified Mindfulness Based Habit Change facilitator having completed the program developed by Judson Brewer, MD, PhD, at the Mindfulness Center at Brown University. She is a Mindful Schools certified teacher offering classes in schools to children and youth.
In her personal life and in her work with others, her intention is to bring a mindful, compassionate presence to each moment. She recognizes that finding a therapist and coming to therapy is a challenging process. She is committed to creating a space that is safe, supportive, and confidential where the work of therapy can evolve and healing can take place.
Throughout her career, she has trained in various treatment approaches to help clients with the concerns that bring them to therapy. She has trained in Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing. To support her work with individuals and families around substance use and addiction concerns, she has trained at The Betty Ford Center in California and at The Caron Foundation in Pennsylvania.
