Clara Irwin is a clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. She is in full time private practice in the Cotswold are of Charlotte, NC.
Clara Irwin graduated from the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1991 receiving her Masters in Social Work. In 1985, she received a Masters in Human Development and Learning from University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
In addition, she is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist counseling individuals with substance abuse concerns and their families. She has trained at The Betty Ford Center in California and The Caron Foundation in Pennsylvania.

Throughout her career, she has been committed to training in various treatment approaches to be able to offer each client what would be most helpful to them with the issues that bring them to therapy. She has trained in Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing.
She recognizes that finding a therapist and coming to therapy is a challenging process. She believes deeply that the success of therapy depends on an understanding and compassionate relationship between client and therapist. For many individuals seeking help, the therapy relationship is often the first place they have begun to open up and share. She is committed to creating a space that is safe, kind, and caring believing this must happen for the work of therapy to be evolve and for the client to heal.
